The base leather is Italian Vacchetta leather: M.BOX. It is fully vegetable tanned using a secret recipe passed down only by a very few tanneries in Tuscany. The leather has a firm texture and is rich in oil, resulting in a matte sheen. The more you use it, the more it will develop a glossy appearance, which is what makes it so appealing.
